Free professional help.     If you are unable to resolve matters by yourself then you may be able to get some free professional advice:

HM Land Registry is prepared to offer, free of charge, an interpretation of how the boundary shown in the filed plan or deeds, or the features shown on the OS map, relates to the physical features that exist on the ground, provided that yours is a registered property. (Use the link at left.)

Your local Citizens Advice Bureau may be able to find an expert who is prepared to give up to one hour's free consultation. This may be enough to help you resolve the problem, or it may help you to identify that you really do need professional advice. (Look in your local phone book for Citizens Advice Bureaux.)
